are there any tricks to installing freeze plugs

I have just used a large diameter socket that will fit into the recess of the casting plug , put a little sealant gasket cement not RTV, then tap with a hammer against the socket til the plug is flush.

I replaced the freeze plugs in my engine in 2006.They're much easier to get at with the manifolds off. I used the gasket shellac and I still ended up with leaks. Very small leaks, I hoped they might stop after a while, but after about 3000 kilometres I still have some that are leaking. The engine shop here locally uses blue loctite. I didn't want to take the manifolds back off to try again, I figured I'd just make them worse.
