 Post subject: gas tank sender removal?

just seeing if theres a trick to openin up the gas tank through the sender, i got it pulled. im tryin to clean it out from sittint about a decade.
it looks like its half spanner style. but i dont wanna go wailin on any taps tryin to get it to spin...

If you don't have the correct spanner, use a non-sparking (brass, bronze, copper, plastic, wood) drift, and not a steel one, to turn the locking ring counterclockwise.

k, just makin sure it actually is a spanner. got a lil grime on it. ill give it a try wit a BFH... jk... theres not gas in it right now, not even fumes...

I couldn't find the correct spanner, so I took the aluminum U-shaped heating element from a dead coffee maker and filed notches in it to make a crude spanner - it got the job done, but I'll find something better next time.
