Hey,

Ok so originally I was thinking about going with a Super six in the 66 cuda However now I'm thinking about putting in an Offy Dual carb manifold. such as this one here http://www.howellautomotive.com/index.a ... rodID=1006

Is this wise? would I get better performance than the super six by running this Offy. The reason for doing this, is that the availability of a complete super six setup in good shape here in Newfoundland is doubtful. And it would probably be pretty sweet to run two carbs, as well I wouldn't mind installing new parts. I've also read about modding this manifold so that it can take two 2bbl carters.

If I do go ahead with this what kind of exhaust setup would you guys recommend? I know the super six fits with the stock exhaust manifold, so what would be required for the offy?

Also I don't plan on installing headers yet. And if I do go with this, what carbs would you guys go with? carters?

Sorry about all the questions, I just can't wait to start workin on the car's performance and making it run solidly.

I also realize that I may be getting in a little over my head here as I am pretty new to all of this. Would an offy or clifford 4bbl intake be a better starting point? I have read about possible linkage and choke problems with the offy dual setup.

I don't know how it would stack up against a Super Six, but I do know that keeping the two carbs tuned and synchronized is a pain.

Even so, dual carbs looks cool!

I think Dutra Duals would be entirely appropriate with these - and many other - intakes.

Take it from a man who tried the Offy......it can be fun, but it can also be burr in the saddle. I switched to a 4-bbl....baisicaly drop-on and run compared to the 2X1 intake. BUT, there is no comparision to the "Jaw-Droppping" effect you will get with the dual-carbs. Throttle response is great, and both carbs must be in top condition. I tried the 1920's, if I did it over again, I would use Carters, or two Webbers.
Compared to a Super Six? I dunno; never had one. :)
Good luck!

Banjo man! Where you at in TN? Me and some Mopar buddies might be headed to Tony Defeo's coffee house tonight.

Tony is a famous Mopar guy. Wrote many articles for the mags back in the day. He lives in Murfreesboro. Maybe even started a Mopar mag or 2.

R_T,
I'm around Jackson, TN. Pretty good drive from Murfreesboro.... :D
I've heard of Tony, and I wouldn't mind going sometime; I'm always up for a roadtrip! But, tonight we had a Thanksgiving/Veterans Day at a local church. :D (I ate w-a-y too much.)
Next summer I hope to have more time for stuff like this.
Thanks for the offer, though!!
Mopar-to-ya!
