I thought only the Feathers and Lights got a 1 piece aluminum intake.
Well, I saw my second 1 piece non-welded aluminum intake on a truck in the junkyard. This is the second one I've seen, first was on a van. I assumed the first one I saw about 5 years ago was a transplant off a Feather/Light. This motor appears not to have been changed. So some trucks/vans got them. This one was an '85, my '84 had the welded version.
Best thing about the 1 piece intake, there no welded seam hanging out over the edge making it harder to see and install the bottom row of fasteners.
How common are these?

I've seen a few in late Aspens, and seen one in a late truck, they aren't too common anymore at all...This is the time to grab one if you want to drop a few pounds off that stocker, or replace the e-beam welded version off a vehicle...

It is getting to the point where you just don't see any Mopar stuff in the wrecking yards...
When I do find the aluminum intakes, I grab them.

My 60 Valiant had a nice diecast aluminum manifold from the factory.I think the very early 170 engines had them and they were extremely light weight.

All 1960 slant-6s had aluminum intakes. Some of them were sand cast, and some of them were semipermanent-mould cast. Casting quality was generally high, and the sand-cast ones especially had a very nice surface finish. None of them was die-cast. Chrysler were getting them from nine different foundries, and in order to simplify sourcing and reduce cost, it was decided to go to in-house cast iron for the '61 model year.

The early, '60-'6?, 1 piece aluminum intake I've seen had a strange carb flange I didn't recognize. There was only 1 carb bolt boss. What carb used only 1 fastening bolt?

Until 1976, the only aluminum intakes Chrysler put out were the 1960-only 1bbl and the Hyper-Pak 4bbl. There is a difference in the carb mounting flange between the 1960 aluminum 1bbl and the '61-up iron 1bbl intakes: The '61-up flange has a 1/4" port for PCV routing through the carb base. No such port on the '60 intakes. Other than that, the 1bbl carb mounting flange is identical, including the two carb mounting bolts.

Well 64-66 not sure. All I know it was a nice car before the tree fell on it. I t was the first time I saw an aluminum 1bbl

A lot of the '76 and newer Slants I have had did have cast 1bbl aluminum intakes on them. I threw them away because people would not even pay $5 for one.

Do the aluminum intakes warm up quicker in the morning?
and promote better atomization?
and better mileage in the case of the 1 and 2 barrels and power?
Do they provide better fuel distribution to cylinders 2 and 5?

What other benefits are there besides weight reduction?
