I've been looking to replace my old/thining hooker 6to1 large flywheel (truck) headers (1.5"ts 2.25"cs).I now have a high mount starter so A body headers should fit my truck (78 D150). I found a Mopar Performance Race header: 6to1, 1-5/8"ts, 3"cs Part:P4529471 at RaceSearch.Com price: $184.06.Is this a good header or is it worth all the extra money to get Clifford duals and have a "Y" pipe made???? any opinions pro or con thanks Bruce

Hi, I got this same header from Buymopar.com in Rhode Island for $140. It is in my 63 Dart and it has the typical header problems: sits kinda low at the collector (should not be a problem in your truck), the paint turns to a light coat of rust pretty quick (they come spray painted black), welds are not the greatest (some leftover weld wire attached inside the collector). The mounting flange has nuts spot welded to it to make the flange/nut thickness match the thickness of an exhaust manifold at the triangle washers. It comes with a paper gasket (hello exhaust gas is hot!) so after about 6 months I got a Felpro manifold gasket and no leaks thus far (one year daily use). Biggest gripe: the header must be removed for starter replacement, I had to change my old style worn out starter to the newer mini starter. All in all, not a bad header for $140 compared to close to $300 for what I really want. By the way this header is not designed for my car, it is for '67 on up so it contacts my torsion bar and steering box but I have not had to dimple it.

I have the Mopar header on my Duster. It hit the intake manifold, steering box, studs on the head, and it hung WAY to low. I ended up buying a pair of collectors from clifford, and making "shorty" style dual outlets out of them.
I ust dented it where it touched the intake, it might fit with a stock intake or a 4-bbl, but i have a dual 2-bbl intake, so that might be the problem.

Tom, I saw the same problem with mine when I fitted it up with a Clifford intake. The #6 tube comes forward and hits the runner. The dual carb Offy is the same way.

Other than that, mine fit very well, and didn't seem to hang very low, but I may run my front end higher than most.
