I've seen pictures and read different website posts about carbureted supercharging (not turbocharging) the slant 6 using say the M90 found on some Fords, or the GM 3800 units, but these have all been written by people who have only seen such cars. Has anyone here actually done this? I'm looking for building details. Thanks.

I don't know why you want to carb the GM 3800 when the Throttle Body it connected to the unit. Just something to think about. Also you'll have to steal some pulley's to change it over to a surpentine belt system. Someone did do this it's a 60's dart called "big red" you can do a search for. However, the biggest thing is making a manifold, which is do able out of sheet metal.

runvs_826, thanks for the response. That is the kind of info I'm looking for. So the GM3800 used a throttle body EFI unit? Couldn't tell that from the images I've seen. Yes, I've seen the Big Red page. Very nice and very clean. Any other ideas?

There may be another way of getting a suitable manifold soon - I have spoken to a guy in Adelaide (Australia) who is manufacturing a range of parts for older engines under the name 'Aussiespeed'

One of his coming products is a remake of a "Cain' 4BBL alloy slant manifold - John Cain was a maker of manifolds but has shifted his business away towards tyre importing and the like, and has sold a lot of his moulds to Aussiespeed. To go with the new manifolds, Aussiespeed are planning to machine up 'wedge adapters', that will bolt onto the manifold in place of a carb, and change the mounting angle back to parallel with the crank. The top of the adapter will be drilled to suit the bolt pattern of the Eaton M90 superchargers used on Mustangs and on the GM 3800 motor (which is used here in Commodores). I plan to grab one when he has them finished for the motor I will be building for my 1966 VC Valiant utility.

Wow, that would be a great manifold product! I have an M90 languishing in the garage that needs just that. I'll get one if/when he gets to making them up and they are as you describe!

Yes that manifold looked nice, and I want to do a couple with the foundry we just made. Two to mimick the old hyperpak and two hopefully to work with the gm 3800 blowers. We can't cast iron so I can't do anything with turbos yet. Unfortunately I'm attempting to finish putting together an 8.8 into my duster, the junkyard gave me the wrong one.
Anyways, we plan on going lost foam casting and we have an electric furnace/foundry that can melt aluminum so I simply have to do the prep of shaping the foam and coating it several times. This project is kinda on hold but hopefully will have something to show in a month.

i could build a manifold out of sheet metal if i wanted to with all tig welding... and a plasma cutter...

Hi Guys yes our AussieSpeed slant manifold is well on the way,The manifold is nothing like the cain manifold as our Performance manifold has 6 equal length runners.there is a huge amount of work including testing,machining fixtures,CNC program & a lot more that people just dont see.The AussieSpeed slant 6 Chrysler manifold will be available in 2 barrel,4 barrel & also to suit the eaton style super charger.We have also received help from Ray at Pentastar Parts in Sydney Australia.I will add some pictures of a proto type soon.
Also AussieSpeed Did not buy any patterns from John Cain,with the approval of John cain we have reproduced some of his manifolds.The original Patterns were sold of along time ago..Wish we did have them would have saved us lots of time & money...
