Hey Doc,what do you think? Would this work? The Buzzin Half Duzzin runs 12.40's on gas no spray. But,runs 10.20's spraying. That is a difference of 2.20 seconds. The Lancer runs 10.60's on alky,so back on gas should be 10.80's. Put on the spray, change the rear gear and it should be in the eights.

I thought the Green Team was set on doing their ETs the old fashion way, on the motor.

If you guys do decide to take the spray bottle to the Lancer, who knows what will happen, that thing is hella-fast as is.

My big question will be answered on the day we do get one of these Slant cars into the 9s, we all know how the tech inspectors get with the cars going 9.99 and faster. I wonder if they will want the chassis certified or some crap like that.

Hey Green Team, sounds like a plan. You had better be looking for one of those dual nitrous bottle mounts because you are going to need it.And you may as well start designing an engine diaper too. When you were talking about building a blown engine I thought you were talking supercharger, not "blown up"engine. On second thought, you guys should stick with what you do best-building the worlds quickest and fastest no power adders slant sixes and leave the bottles to the babies!

Good point, Doug. 9.99 or quicker needs a Competition License and more safety equipment. I think the cars that are poised to go that fast will pass Tech, but the drivers may need to upgrade their licenses and suits. Sounds like a really bad problem to have!LOL! Dennis

Mark, I helped Mike weigh the bottle after that run. He had such big jets in that thing that it used 12# of NAWS and he only had a 10# bottle!!!! Dennis

You guys are talking my kinda talk now our motto,
PILL-IT-TIL-YA-KILL-IT!!!! Remember real men make there own atmosphere!
as for the safety issue, these guys are really getting anul about the chassis. The cars will all have to have a cage and be NHRA certified to go that fast. This will add lots of weight. That is one reason the Demon was so heavy, even though it was a chrome moly car with an aluminum big block

Cheers
Mike

As for the chassis stuff @ 990

"I wonder if they will want the chassis certified or some crap like that. DD"

Doc, I ran Super Gas (9.90) with my 69 Camero. This is/was/can be done with a factory chassis (although I was running an Alston chassis). If my memory is correct, a 10 point roll cage was required, driveshaft loop, and the standard fare of safety stuff. The inspectors DO look at the welds, but certification was not required.

While I'm not going to say it can't be done, running the 9.90 classes with a /6 would be a hand full. My car was 2300# w/ a 496CI BB , Powerglide, and a 9" Ford. I was turning it 6500 rpm. Just guessing, it was probably running over 700 hp. The 2300 pounds I think will be the "killer" for doing this with a door slammer. Best suggestion I can make is to go after the 9.9 number with a rail job.

I just read the posting about Mike Jeffrey's 10.19. Holy COW! I'm glad I got out while the getting was good. It would have been 'barrassin to have my nasty ol rat thumped by a /6! Give him some nice cold air and bar the door....

I'll just excuse my self now and sit in the corner for a while.....

The Lancer has been certified for 7.50,so that's not an issue. But you guys have scared Wes and Mark off the idea of spray by the term "Blow-up". To bad I would have liked to try it.
