Just caught part of a news blip that said the governer of CA signed a new, more expensive, more restrictive smog-check testing program into law today (to take effect January 2003). The news story said something about tougher standards for pre-'89 cars, but that was about all I heard.

Anybody know the details of this abomination? Please tell me that they didn't change the exemption cut-off year back into the mid sixties again. Man, am I tired of this moving target crap.

I'd appreciate any solid news on this matter as it pretty much completely blind-sided me. Thanks.
