Sweet, so once I get this running, what would be the safe operating rpm range for an engine like this?

Just depends on what you want that 225 to do. It would be a good idea to tell us your plans. Race? Dalily Driver? Buget? Whats it going in?
Then we can supply you with some realist ideas.

Daily driver. I'm aiming for an engine that has alot of low end power and not so much at the higher range. I think this engine will do nicely with a rebuild. Can someone tell me what it came from? Or what it will fit in? I'm not familiar with Chrysler vehicles and such.

Or is there a place where I can look up the cast number myself? I can't seem to find any place that will decode this funky number for me.

EDIT: I entered it into some form thingy and got:

If you go to the main page for this site you can get info on your casting numbers. While there look at some of the articles.
Have you decided what the engine is going in yet? I didnt see that posted.
A rebuild may get what you want or you may need more look at the engine matrix thread Agressive Ted has a good build from DD and he is still squalling tires with his 1 bbl carb.

I'd kinda like to put it in a Plymouth Duster eventually, but for now I gotta get it running. I gotta make a mount for the starter, buy/get a starter, and find an old alternator and battery, I think we have a radiator here too. That should be all that's needed to run the thing, right? Maybe find out what the hell everything does on the thing. I think it's just a single barrel carburettor. I hope I can find out what year it is so I can get a manual for it. Thank you for all of your help guys! I'll get it in running condition and post the results, get it nice and shiny, you know? =D

Sounds like fun. You will need a bell housing with flywheel or a 904 Auto transmission (either one will have to be for a slant 6) this is what the starter mounts on.
Most of the engine spefic areas of a service manual or the same on all of the slant 6's the only thing thats really changed was the polution control for that year and Hydrolic cam in the mid 80s(dont remember the year) Looks like your engine is 1967 or later. I would try a 74 Duster manual and use it as a good starting point.
Box Wrench has a engine vidieo out that really helps you out and is well worth the money.
You may not have to do too much to your engine as they can take a lot.
Good luck and use the search function to help you find specfic info.
Frank

I have the box wrench engine building dvd. Good idea on the bell housing part. I'll get that somewhere. Shouldn't be too hard to find. As long as the manual tells me where everything hooks up to on the engine I should be fine. Eventually I'm gonna rebuild it to make it more economical (if possible) and maybe a bit more powerful. Should be a fun project. I hear it's pretty impossible to ruin one of these engines, especially if it doesn't have any computer or EFI stuff. Can't wait to find an old Duster somewhere, someday. That would be my dream car lol. =D Room for lots of crap in the trunk, passengers, and a big engine bay! YaY!

Yeah before I got my car it was sitting for like 10 years. And the 225 still runs as if it wasnt sitting at all.

Woohoo. My grandpa as it turns out has a 1984 Dodge Ram with a slant six in it! I got the starter and alternator today, I'll have to wait for better weather in order to get the fuel pump. This is great, I have a slant six parts car now! Yes! Heh heh, also has a radiator! Can you say jackpot?
