Does anyone out there know where to get one of the JP timing sets with the multi-keyed crank gear. I think that would make degreeing the cam "almost" dummy proof. I have never degreed a cam and don't want to mess it up. I don't want to wait a long time to get one as I want to get my motor back in ASAP. Does anyone out there have an extra one in stock close to California?

I got mine from the Cox Bros. They had it in stock when I ordered it several years ago...

That is a nice set, but I find it is easier to use a offset cam bushing, rather then the crank sprocket, to adjust timing. It is just too hard to remove and reinstall the crank sprocket, it is a tight fit. If you still have the degree wheel installed, it is even harder.

How does that work? I know that the cam has a pin that fits in a hole in the cam gear. How does the bushing work? I can't seem to visualize it. Do you make the hole in the cam gear bigger? Let me know.

So you drill out the hole in the cam gear. Is that correct? It's hard to tell how big the bushings are in the pic without any point of reference to size. It looks like the one gear in the pic has the bushing in it. Let me know if I'm wrong please. Also, what keeps the bushing in the gear. Just the chain tension on it? I want to get this right the first time.

The current dowel pin hole is 1/4 inch and you drill it out to 3/8th.

The large washer under the head of the cam gear hold down bolt will cover the bushing once installed... the bushing can not get out from under the wash.
