Yes, that is the "work around".
Be warned, the hydro lobe profile has a more aggressive ramp and flank, when combined with solid lifters, it will be a littly 'lumpy' at idle.

You will spend some time finding that lash setting that gives decent idle quality and does not "clatter". (lash "ticking")
The last one of these I did worked Ok at .008 intake and .014 exhaust lash. My guess is that the "performance" Clifford Hyd. profile may need a little more clearance.

Just a strange thought....
Could a person use a Hydro cam in a solid motor to simply get a more aggressive "ramp rate"? More duration at .050 is usually good, so...? Maybe racers could use it? Or would the risk outweigh the benefit?

I would never choose to do this, the risk of "plowing down" a cam lobe is too great.

I have had to deal with this "error" a few times in the past and solid lifters on a hydro cam profile can be made to work... it does make the engine act as if it has a performance cam installed.

well i got ahold of clifford finally. At first he tried to say the lifters would work with adjustable rockers and sent me to an "expert" he knew that didn't know what he was talking about because he didn't know how the oil would get through the rockers on an adjustable rocker. Long story short i'm sending the cam and lifters back for a mechanical and set of lifters. He said he had a 268 duration mechanical in stock. So we'll see

Good job staying with them and making them get it right. You'll be happier in the long run. While you're waiting, pick up a degree wheel and dial indicator and learn how to degree that cam; your results will be better and you'll have the satisfaction of knowing it's done right. A dial indicator can be purchased at Harbor Freight for reasonable cost and get the magnetic base while you're at it. Summit Racing has a large selection of degree wheels for not too much or you can download one free and print it. I opted to buy one since I was buying some other stuff at the same time.
