Thought you guys might like to see this. Just a quick video from inside my car at the Nostalgia Drags event at my local track. Just try to ignore the green flash that's pulling away from me in the right hand lane.

This run was my first for the day, a 16.1@83mph. My best of the day was 15.97@84mph, a PB for me. :D Next time I'll mount the camera further to the left hand side of the car so I can capture a bit more of the action, mainly me shifting the push button auto. I think it's time to fit a 4BBL carb, damn this drag racing is addictive!!!!

Nice run. Looks like you may not be "leaving" early enough. I leave on the 3rd yellow in my car 2nd yellow in my wifes car. Also you may not be reving up enough at the line. You may want to read the racing tips in the Articles Section.
I LOVE THE ADDICTION

That run I left at the first sign of light in the third yellow, and I still ended up with a 0.239sec RT. I'm still a novice at this so I'm still learning. My best RT of the day was 0.100sec.

I experimented a bit, that run I stalled the trans up to 1000rpm and it did feel a bit sluggish off the line, then I tried 1500rpm which resulted in traction loss, then tried 1200rpm........bingo, and that was my quickest run of the day. It's amazing how just a few rpm more or less can make such a big difference.

That was a cool video i'm gonna have an in car video up soon when next test n tune comes.
What rubber are you running because i launch mine close to 3000rpm and my traction is pretty good with 255/60r 15' cragars but that could be a fluke once i change my pump shooter cuz i'm still tuning out stumbles
i dunno nice video though and good run

Kev

Hi Kev, I'm only running on street tires, 205/60/15, so they do break loose quite easily. I'm also only using a 2500rpm torque converter so I can't stall it up too much.

P.S. your engine bay looks great Kev :D

Oh ok i see so your running 205's ya mine are street tires i just liked the wider tire look i had those on with my old motor and i couldn't even hope to spin the tire or do a burnout. Thanks I spent plenty of time on that motor so i didn't want it to just be plain. i'll have to change pictures i've cleaned up the compartment a bit since that picture was taken. Anywho i really liked the vid theres never enough slantsix videos but there slowly pileing up and the push button was cool your car didn't miss a beat. What gears are you running out back i'm curious?

Kev

Yeah the push button is very smooth. I'm running a locked (mini-spooled) 3.7 diff. But this is just temporary while I'm getting a 3.23 LSD diff built. I was running a 2.92 before so while the 3.7 is fun, it's a bit revvy (is that a word??) at highway speeds. 3200rpm at 60mph.
This car is not destined to be an all out drag car, just a nice old cruiser with a bit of oomph!! So I think the 3.23 gears should be just right. And to be honest I only went from 16.3sec@84mph to 15.9sec@84mph by switching from 2.92 to 3.7 gears so it hasn't made a huge difference. Which was a bit of a disappointment, I was expecting at least a 0.8sec better 1/4mile time. :? I'm going to run the car again in a few weeks before I swap in the 3.23, and when the nights over here start to cool down. I'll get some more video then too.
All I need now is a 4BBL intake and carby to fall into my lap and I'll be set.

your tire diameter sounds awful small being 3200 rpm at 60 you might have saw a small pick up because the car may be over geared so your running out of your power band to fast. Sounds good though i'm waiting for some pump shooters and dist spring kit to cure my bog and timing issues
i'll run mine again after i get rid of all the bog i want to break into the 9's in the 1/8 when i go next time so i'm waiting to get stuff right
Thanks, Kev

205/60/15 tire is 24.6" diameter, I might invest in some 225/60/15 tires, that might help a little.

Good luck getting into the 9's. Just incase you're interested my best 1/8 mile time is 10.20 @ 69.2mph.

15.743@86mph
15.648@87mph
15.676@87mph
15.651@87mph
15.648@87mph
15.582@87mph

Very happy with the last run. :D

Yeah only on the last run Lou, and only just a 9, 9.97@71mph, but it's still a 9 sec 1/8mile........I guess. All the other runs were very close, a couple were 10.02sec.

Well it didn't quite fall into my lap, I had to pay for it, but not as much as I thought I would. Anyway, I now have a 4BBL intake and a 390 Holley.........let the fun begin. :D

Hey 1975duster kev, what size jets and power valve are you running in your 390??
