the battery (pos) cable on my wife's 74 swinger/6 is bundled with the wire for the starter solnoid. where can i get a new one? or what is the preffered method of replacement.

I think you can get the battery cable, with the smaller wire from one of the better parts stores: ei: NAPA, Carquest, etc. Two other options are, get a cable wich has a small "pigtail" and butt splice your wire onto the pigtail, or Put a ring terminal on your small wire, put it under the nut for the clamp bolt. The first method is prefered.

Seems to me that most auto parts stores have these.
They do not look like the OEM cable but will do the job.
Many time I can save an OEM cable just by splicing-on a new terminal end, the auto parts stores have a lot of this stuff.
If the at stock cable is completely shot, you can split the harness and reuse the smaller wire with the new cable.

I bet if you really search around, someone out there has an NOS or Repop replacement cable close to the factory part.

thanks, i went ahead and put on a new terminal but that looked like it was gonna be the last time lengthwise. I tried all but Napa. will go there next.
