the battery (pos) cable on my wife's 74 swinger/6 is bundled with the wire for the starter solnoid. where can i get a new one? or what is the preffered method of replacement.

I think you can get the battery cable, with the smaller wire from one of the better parts stores: ei: NAPA, Carquest, etc. Two other options are, get a cable wich has a small "pigtail" and butt splice your wire onto the pigtail, or Put a ring terminal on your small wire, put it under the nut for the clamp bolt. The first method is prefered. :)

Seems to me that most auto parts stores have these.
They do not look like the OEM cable but will do the job.
Many time I can save an OEM cable just by splicing-on a new terminal end, the auto parts stores have a lot of this stuff.
If the at stock cable is completely shot, you can split the harness and reuse the smaller wire with the new cable.

I bet if you really search around, someone out there has an NOS or Repop replacement cable close to the factory part.

thanks, i went ahead and put on a new terminal but that looked like it was gonna be the last time lengthwise. I tried all but Napa. will go there next.
