I've heard lots of people talk about using 2.2 turbos on Slants, but has anyone thought of using the TD05/14B turbo that came on '90-'94 Diamond Star cars (Eclipse,Talon,Laser)? The manual transmission cars had 14B turbos, and the automatics had TD04/13G turbos. According to the performance upgrade section at www.extrememotorsports.com , they should be able to handle a stock to mild Slant quite well, based on what I've read. I've seen some stock turbo Lasers go in the 13's at the dragstrip.

I just had a brainstorm while sitting here at the computer. While slowly working on my Duster, the plan had always been to drop in my "Screamin' Six" Slant Six engine when the car was ready for it. BUT, since I got a stock 1975 steel crank Slant in my '75 Duster that was cut up for parts at the junkyard, why not use that stock compression motor for some turbo testing? If I blow it up, no big deal! There are several turbo 2.2 cars in that junkyard, so I can get a turbo easily, although I'll look for a DSM turbo first.

Nothing works harder than a rented mule . . .
Nothings' faster then a rented car  (or test engine).

Test it to the extreme and keep us abreast of the results.

with a turbo you have a exhaust housing and a compressor housing. These are mounted to the center sect of the turbo in difference ways. The turbo you are talking about has a large snap ring. You can turn the compressor housing too( or rotate it) so that the outlet is faceing a different direction.
With the to3 from dodge cars you can get a turboII which flows more cfm as the older to3. I think it is 1989 and up are the years for this turbo.

Hi..this is my first post here and i admit that i know very little about slant 6(thats why im here)....however i am somewhat of an import guru and my reccomendation is this.......

if you want to use a mitsu turbo, which is very good reliable turbo, you should the 16g or a modified version of that....it can handle i believe like a max of 20psi before it runs out of steam.......that turbo will spool up very quickly and is great for a car driven ion that streets b/c you will notice very little turbo lag...you should be able to find a brand new one for about 500 or 599 depending on the company......if you do some research i think you will find that the majority of dsm guys that are really quick are runnning 16g or bigger but most go with 16g.......the performance addicts dont stick with the 14g very long........

hope this was helpful
