I sent my head out to Ed Curtis at Flow Tech Induction

http://www.flowtechinduction.com/

Ed does a lot of race engine prep and custom cams and is thoroughly honest. So while I just wanted a basic rebuild, I sent my head to him because he's the only individual I trust. He cut the head and put in exhaust seat inserts. But he could not leave well enough alone. Once the seat was in place, there was a huge overhang of casting above it... on both the Int & Exh. Ed said the throat area to valve seat ratio was something like 60%. So he removed the excess material and ended up with about 85%. Now we'll mill the head to come up with about 9.3:1. Can't wait to get the head back.

Mitch

Don't yet know the cost because I'm still waiting for the head. I ground shipped it from NY to RI and it cost about $50 for an 80 lb package. OUCH! We did not take initial flow numbers, so it would be kinda meaningless to give flow numbers now. The head was not ported, rather the bowl area above the seats were opened up.

Why didn't you get it ported too?
