I admit that I used to use Fram for all my Mopars before I learned of the certain evils that they provide. In the past it was a PH8A filter for everything from slant to 440, does this ring true if I want to use the Napa (can't remember the number right now) or any other good over the counter filter as far as interchange between all of our Mopar designs go? Just curious is all.

Thanks, Pat

My choice is Wix #51515 or #51773 (2-qt). Wix and Purolater are among the best.

That 51515 sounds familiar as I will sometimes pick up a couple of em from Car Quest while I'm there (WIX) ... hard habit to break, though as I still use my share of Frams. Don't beat up on me TOO bad... Does hastings still make/market oil filters?

Wix 51515 and Napa Gold (Napa Gold used to be made by Wix also, back when...)

Recently I've put in the Wix equivalent to the larger 318/440 filter and it seems to work out just fine when wizzing the Hpak mill up to 6200 rpm...

Hastings filters are still on the market...more and more of them are coming with small print saying "made in China". No thanks.

NAPA filters are still made by Wix. To get the NAPA Gold number from the Wix number, drop the first digit (Wix 51515 becomes NAPA Gold 1515, etc.)

Purolator also make a good filter.

Other threads worth seeing include this one and this one and this one.

(posted very quietly from the United Nations in Geneva. I'm sitting between the Belgian and Czech governmental delegations. Perhaps more info in Social Corner later on)

EVERY trip since that one, I've habitually replaced the laptop in the briefcase first thing after passing security, then opened the briefcase again once I'm otherwise reassembled (shoes, wallet, etc.) to double-check it's in there.

Thanks guys, I grabbed two WIX 51515 filters today. Did anyone know if these filters are compatible with all (older style) Mopar engines?

Wix 51515 is used on just about everything Chrysler that takes the long spin on filter. Get older than that and it's canister country.

I've seen cannisters on early 60's slant trucks, looks like a quick raid on a newer slant at the junkyard for the adaptor/ back flow tube out of the late oil pump would just change that problem right away...

You'll want that canister style filter to go with your matching oil bath air cleaner.
