I've posted this previously but have more info now.
When I had my /6 re-built the harmonic balancer was replaced with
Pioneer DA2250 which is shown as correct for both cars and trucks for many yrs.
However the power steering pulley is held too far out, and the mounts for the P/S won't align, I have a third (original) harmonic balancer,Question is will this harm the balance on my new engine? Is there a shallower dished pulley available,
which would allow the belt to ride near flush with the other two? Any other options?
having my P/S pump off-set with bits of 3/8ths black pipe just doesn't get it for me after the time/expense involved in this!!!!! otherwise driving the truck feels like this: :)
thanks
robert

The old balancer will not effect the "new Engine" Balance.

The slant six in neutral balaced so you can transfer any slant six balancer between the engines, one thing to note is, if the pulley is too far out I would suspect a couple of things:
1) pull the current one and compare to the old one, if they look the same (or are similar 3 spoke vs. 6 spoke) then I think the damper may have not been seated all the way on the crank snout (I end up using a longer bolt similar to the crank bolt and a set of washers/spacers to get it seated... then install a crank bolt to see if it's on there correctly)
2) the new damper may be something else (you can install a big block damper on the crank snout too, but those dampers are a bit different)...

Which ever works, make sure to look at the timing marks and make sure they 'jive'...

good luck,
