So I've tried explaining this to a couple mopar buddies and they don't understand what I'm saying...I'll try it here.

My Valiant starts up just fine when it's cold, after a couple minutes of warming up if I hit the gas it will seem like it's going to die and as soon as i let off, it goes back to running normally. After it's warmed up for a while, it runs just fine. I know it needs to be warmed up, but it takes something like 20 minutes to get to the point that it won't do the dying thing anymore. Any ideas?

I would say that your choke is probably not functioning properly or is pulling off too soon... and you might also see if your carb is giving a good acc. pump shot (open choke plate and pull back on the throttle- if you see a good squirt out the side of the carb, it's good... if none or it's a bit 'piddly' then a carb rebuild might be in order...)

I would look at three things. It could be any one or combination of the three. Not enough acclerator pump shot in the carb, choke not working properly (misadjusted/stuck), heat flapper in the exhaust manifold frozen.
It sounds like you have a cold, lean bog, but it shouldn't take more then about 5 minutes to warm up.

You might also spray around the intake and carb base with carb cleaner to check for vacuum leaks when its cold.

If all those items listed are in good working order, try increasing the timing.
If your at zero or 5 degrees the engine will be pretty sluggish. Try around 10 degrees and see if that helps.

The other item is your vacuum canister. It maybe dead or frozen or the line form the carb could have a hole in it. Replace the vacuum line and test the canister to see if it will hold vacuum or if you can see the arm move or test it with the timing light to see if it advances when you rev it up.

Wow...lots of responses. Thanks guys. It's dark and I'm driving to the Lonestar Roundup tomorrow, so once I get up there, I'll see what I can find out and let you know. I appreciate all your input.
