Switch grass, sugar cane... What are you going to do in 40 years when the majority of the oil supply is gone?

propaganda, we use more oil manufacturing E85 than just making regular gas. More green house gases etc.

Did you see the recent Time magazine cover about the biofuel hoax?

Whats interesting about that is that they can sale E85 cheaper. On the west coast I seen where a guy was claiming to be only paying $1.90 for his E85. I dont know how true his price is but it is cheaper in some places than I am getting it for. If it takes more oil to make E85 than gas how come they can sale it for cheaper? Makes you wander.

Government subsidies. Wheat prices have gone up, hence all wheat products goes up! Why? Everyone is growing E-85 corn!

Corn is rough on the soil.

I think the biodiesel I buy is soy derivative. No guarntee on the % it is. It just smells better out the tail pipe.

When in Nebraska in 2006 the regular 87 octane gas was $3.05 and E-85 premium was $2.97!! I got 37mpg on the wife's PT Cruiser with it.

Few places to buy biofuels in TN.

This is right outside of Bristol Tenn I am getting it, about 10 minute drive from the race track in a little place called Piney Flat right on th emain highway. They just started getting it and its not showing up on any of the locators I have seen yet.

Are you saying that you can get 37 MPG out of the E85 in your PT Cruizer?

If it wasn't for government subsidies E85 would be 50~75 cents more a gallon then premium. Remember our government also pays farmers to NOT grow crops.

This years crop was the largest since something like 1946. I believe it is like 1 unit of energy to make 1.1 units of E85 whereas 1 unit of energy makes 3 units of gasoline.

I did on the highway, no cruise, 75mph. 5 speed. Got 32 on the first tank, 37 on the next.

The "flex" fuel vehicles get really sucky mileage. On that trip I went form 21mpg as a low. (driving across Wyoming @ 90+mph.)

Actually I don't have the PT here. Wife took it back to the great NW when she left

I did a E-85 conversion a couple years ago, it wasn't a slant 6 though. I wrote an article about converting a carter thermoquad for E-85 for my 440 in my truck at the time. Feb. 07' of Mopar Action, 'Boozepower'.
I ran the E-85 440 for 2 years with ZERO problems. I do still have 2 regrets though, #1 I ran 11.2-1 compression, I wish I'd bumped it up another point or 2. #2 I wish I'd also done a holley 4bbl conversion too. The thermoquad worked so well I couldn't bear to take it off.
Question for you guys, what are you doing for pistons to crank your compression up, 11-13-1? Dave

I know it's been beat to death, but it's worth saying AGAIN:

E85 is a political scam and a massive ripoff. Aside from the fact that:

1. It gets worse mileage so it costs YOU more.

2. It's subsidized by YOUR TAX money to the tune of 40-50¢ a gallon. Which means it ALREADY costs more.

3. It costs more energy than it yields. Basically, it COSTS gasoline to make it.

4. It pollutes less, but the gas used in making it pollutes MORE.

But MOST importantly, more important than any of the above, is E85 is liquid starvation. It's a world market, so every acre that waste on E85 is an acre of rainforest cut down some some poor bastard can EAT. It's liquid genocide. It's immoral. Two words: tortilla riots.

I like mine with orange juice.
