Hey Sixers, I have a question about a sound that im getting on my 64 Valiant. It used to be that i would hear this sound maybe once or twice a month but now its all the time. It sounds like a cable (steering) binding up and releasing. Its extremly loud and it doesn't matter if im backing up, going straight, fast or slow it sounds the same. I thought it was the speedo cable because its broken so I took out the gears that go into the tranny and there wasn't even a cable in there. on easter i drove it to nephews and it did it the whole way there. Man it about drove me crazy. Then on the way home, nothing. Not once. It doesnt make any sense. I still have the wierd front u joint that has all the parts to it. That is the last thing I can figure it to be. Any advise would be great. Mytdaddyo

Can you record the sound and post it somewhere so we can hear it?

Really hard too diagnose a sound problem with out the sound? Is your alternator bearings ok? How is the slant power(good power-- no acceleration etc...)? This is like throwing at a dartboard in the dark-- need much more specific info---

BTW Kansas is leading NC at half time.
