Alright, bare with the new guy. I did a search, but didn't find what I was looking for.

I am putting a '71 /6 in a '30 Dodge Business Coupe and I would like to run a lake style header.

I imagine it will need to be custom made, but I am wondering if anyone has done it and has any advice.

Welcome! Sounds like a cool project. Have not done this myself-sounds like a custom job. Lindross has a sweet 1918 Dodge called the Krylon Special-I don't know what kind of exhaust he is running, but there are pics if you do a search. You will have to find a heat source for your intake if you run that type of exhaust. Good luck with your build!

Yeah, you're going to have to come up with or fabricate some header flanges and build it yourself. The Krylon Special mentioned uses a stock exhaust manifold.

No, that is called a "zoomie"
"Lake" pipes run straight to a open flange, usually down the side of the car's rocker panels. If the flange is capped off, the exhaust runs through the normal pipes, muffler, etc.
Normally installed on cars with baby moons as well......

Summit sells 45* turnouts with caps that could be used. They are welded in to the exhaust wherever you want them.

I think what you are after are "Lake pipes", and those are just exaust tubing w/ caps....albiet chrome, and retro looking. Most mags catering to older school type cars should have something you are looking for.I happen to have an issue of Ol' Skool Rodz......but couldnt find any there.

I thought he meant a header made up of individual tubes that exit the engine compartment horizontally feeding into a tapered tube running longitudinally from the first primary tube rearward past the last primary tube. I've seen them where the tapered 'collector' tube has a bolt on cap at the end and has a pipe coming downward to connect to the exhaust system.

I knew "Lake Headers" were ringing a bell somewhere!

1963... 413 Max Wedge Dodges, 409 Tri-Power Pontiacs, 427 Ford Galaxies, and even a few S/6 Hyperpaks left over from the year before.

Must have been an awesome time to race. But alas, I was only 1, and not interested (yet!).
