Hey guys, i have a few questions for building a 225 slant 6 for my 65 dart GT.

I wanted to build a 360, but a certin eaton M90 supercharger intake manafold changed my mind. 8) its at pentastarparts.com. whats the best way to build an awesome performing slant around this blower? what cam should i use? what compression ratio? im totaly clueless, but i know u guys know ur slants. thanks :D

Welcome! The intake does look pretty cool. I will be buying one myself probably the 4bbl version. The good thing about forced induction is you want a lower compression ratio so all that fuel/air has a place to go! I am learning myself but one thing I do know is this is the place! Use the search fuction and read away! :D

Well, first welcome to the board! Everyone is getting pretty excited about those new manifold! Get to see some aftermarket parts getting some excitement maybe more will come!
I've been planning out my turbo build for a while and writing numbers down to replace them later. Plan! Do your reading and write realistic goals for your budget. The biggest thing I will suggest is that a motor build for boost, not a motor with boost added seems like it really needs two things: tuning and strong internals. I don't know what boost levels your looking at so I'll generalize it. For about 12lbs I would go ahead and use relatively stock stuff. Hypereuretic pistons like the 2.2L would be fine, and with a flat top and some head shaving you could get a nice 8.x:1 compression. If you want to walk on the dangerous side you will need to start looking at Arias pistons and quite possibily custom rods. The one thing I would suggest is many people skip balancing there internals which is fine in most cases. However, with a boost build it will be even more important cause it helps the strength of the internals by not having them fight the off balance anymore. Do you follow? I have a hard time explaining sometimes.
Next, will be the tuning factor. The timing is a bit lower with boost motors so make sure your able to adjust it easier than turning the dist. A heavy suggestion would be to look at EFI if you want to get serious (search "How to TBI"). Because you don't need to go to extremes on the other parts of the motor you can shift an expensive cam's value to this area, this is simply my opinion. Otherwise you'll need to talk to someone like Shaker223 for the carb side of this discussion. The stock cam should have good specs, if you give me some goal numbers I can give you the numbers for a better custom grind.
The last part would be engrbldr on ebay has oversized valves for very reasonable price. On top of 3 angle, seats, the only other thing you need to do to your head is gasket match the head and the intake. You can do this at home if you got a die grinder. I don't know how hardcore you want to get, but if you want you can grind the EXHAUST till you can see yourself, otherwise you can pretty much leave the head alone.
So good luck! If you got questions it might be easier to PM me. For the time being you got some parts hunting and research before the manifolds come out so good luck!

Thanks, im shooting for about 300 or more hp. I've done some reasearch, but their is still lots for me to learn. I'll prolly get a .20 over bore, have the whole rotating essembly balanced. Get the clifford performance cam, springs, oversized valves, and 1.6.1 ratio rockers. Im not to sure what header i want, but definatly a nice ceramic coated ones.
Would 9.x.1 compression be OK to use with a supercharger? Thanks for the help.

I wanna say first that 300hp is a hefty goal, I've seen a lot of guys come in here and talk some big numbers unfortuantley I've seen zero pull it off. But, I got faith in ya if you want to keep talking first here are some basic articles you need to read through.

http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic ... ght=twiggy

Rotating is a great start! Few people do this (though few people need to) and it really help the rpms. Rod polishing was a trick I learned to do with balancing that will help with windage. The 2.2L pistons and the 225 rod will give you a good compression ratio which will put your bore closer to 3.5 (depends on which set you get). This is what I would do if you plan on keeping the boost below 10psi. If you want the 9.X:1 you should defintley keep the boost below 10psi and research water injection which will be perfect with the long runners. Another thing I might have metioned earlier is is you have an air compressor is go at the head with a die grinder. You just bolt the gasket up to the head and match them, it will help significantly!
I would not use the Clifford cam! First that cam is ground to help a low performance NA engine. You'll have to talk to a cam grinder and get something along the specs of
Overlap: 104 Duration: 240 Exhaust (50): .55 Intake(50): .44
Doug also has a good dual grind cam from Erson that should work I believe it's in the twiggy article or you can search for it. Unfotunatley to my knowledge there is no 1.6:1 rockers. T&D was suppose to make a set of Roller Rockers but I believe that deal fell through. For your application just stick with some nice reconditioned stock guys, they are actually sworn by some members over rollers and such. Also, you could cut the back half and move it in a measured amount to make a 1.6:1 rocker. You need to over look the cam specs and piston clearance.
