I wanted to share a header flange I got from www.millerscustomheaders.com

1/2" mild steel, water jet cut. Cuts are very clean, ports are large enough to allow for insertion of tubes, and seal welding from the gasket side.

$75 shipped to my door two days after ordering. Accepts paypal or normal money.

I have always been bugged about where you can find square stainless tubing for the exhaust ports. Have you found a good source for that?

Those are nice and all, but $75 seems a little steep. I wonder if they would do a group buy like Erson?

Matt, are you going to make a swedge so you can square up the end of some round tube to fit the flange?

Rick,

I'm building a turbo setup here with pipe and weld ells. I've done it before using the time honored heat, bash, squeeze, cut, weld and grind method. However, I have considered building a swedge to form short transitions as they exit the the flange prior to the bends. I would have to use a press and some heat, but it should be easier in the long run.

Joshie,

Yea, $75 may be a little steep but they had them, and I have been intending to make my own for too long, and haven't. This catalyses the project to a degree. Clifford used to sell uglier ones for $50, but don't any longer. A few years ago I was getting some other parts cut at my waterjet guy, and he quoted $40 each, if I would wait untill he had suitable scrap. Didnt bother getting a real quote as I wasnt interested at the time. Steel costs are roughly 30% higher now, not to mention other inflation. Whatever, I have a new parts to weld on...!

Those are nice, and yes metal has gone up a lot lately. WIth a 1/2 flang that is a lot of metal and they should hold up nice for a turbo build.
I would suggest a strap between the two flanges after the header is built so they dont seperate from the heat and make a reinstall give problem.

Hey Matt,

Nice parts, dude. Good to see you are back on the Valiant project. Been driving that 5spd beast around much? Keep us updated on your diabolical plans...

Cheers,

Lou
