so what is wrong with the damn fram oil filter jesus
Go back up to my first response to you. Red text on this board is clickable to go to a relevant link.
I'm colour blind though.

I've missed that red text thing several times myself. You're sneaky that way, Dan.

Several people feel that the Fram filters are not good and can fail, causing damage to your engine.

I used Fram for years until I read some of the information, now I..... hesitate before buying them.   (Just kidding)

Thanks for sharing your progress with us. It's looking good!

How long to you intend to keep the first batch of oil in the engine?

It would probably be fine for camshaft breakin............

Breathe, Dusterteen. Your oil filter was not attacked, and neither were you. You were made aware of a risk to your nice new engine, given a link to a great deal of information if you want to read up on it...and left to make your own decision.

OK, but Purolator and Wix are better choices. Napa Gold is Wix too.

I think they were "teaching you to fish" rather than giving you the fish.

Shoot me a PM with your name, mailing address and a wish list of realistic things you need for your car. I'll see what I can help you out with.

(think Autozone, Summit, etc.)

Yah, I could put a V8 in there, but then it wouldn't be a Slant 6 now would it!

What welder you have there? Looks like you got into my garage and stole my Millermatic 185! Good machine. Did you get the spoolgun with yours? Im looking for one of those right now but I refuse to pay nearly what I did for the welder (1100 brand new 10 years ago) to get one; Don't need one that bad! See them on Ebay for $500-850 all the time. Too high. It would be nice to be able to do the occasional aluminum job myself rather than having to bug my buddy the welding teacher to HAVE them done!, but for that $ my "need" right now is TOO occasional!

I like the engine color choice seems to be popular with the younger crowd huh? I wouldn't worry about the oil filter cause you'll be changing that oil in a 1000 miles anyway and if your engine fails that early I wouldn't quite blaim it on the filter.
What goodies did you get to put into it? Just curious, I got to play a lot with my first slant, but we just rebuild my dad's 235 which was my first rebuild. All in all, keep up the good work!
