Any tips on polishing a Clifford Intake. Mine appears to have been cleaned with caustic that has caused a white oxide to form on the surface. I am not going to remove it from the engine to clean it. Same goes for the Holley, that thing needs a little hygiene treatment also.

Polishing an aluminum casting is a huge amount of work. You can easily spend 50 hours on one manifold. The Eastwood Co. has a forum on metal polishing if you'd like to learn more. My suggestion is to clean it and take it to a powder coater.

J225,

If I decide to remove the manifolds at some point, I will get more aggressive with clean up. For now I have used # 3 steel wool to remove a good bit of grunge & oxide. The Clifford headers are also coated in a nice coating of rust & small pits that I need to address at some point.

Thanks for the tip, I hadn't thought to check out Eastwood.

The engine needs to come out and be repainted along with all the accessories attached to it. At some point in the past this car was lavished with a pail full of cash resulting in a nice restoration of sorts, and hot rodded. But, it had been beat on, let go, and parked for several years before I purchased it this winter. I suspect it had been drag raced based on a few artifacts I found when I disassembled her, and the way it was equipped.

By the way the brake parts you sent me are working great, thanks
