Im upset Im not seeing anyone with a dodge pickup out there racing. Id really like to race my truck in the upcoming years. Right now my truck would get smoked by a moped. All you experienced guys out there, tell me what i should to get the most power out of my slant.

This is easier for me to say, than you to do: I'd say take advantage of the extra room you have to work with and go with a turbo, or a supercharger.

Trucks could run close to the cars. The right truck can weigh only a little more than a car. In '84 I bought a new short bed D-100, slant, auto, PS, PB, no AC. Weighed on what I knew was an accurate scale, 3490. I thought it go around 3800. Ran it one time at the drags, 20.50. After making two payments an oak tree split in half during a storm and that was the end of my only slant until three years ago.

Hey race that truck, we go to 8 races a year and the thing about slantsix racing you bring it and you can run it. We have run against trucks and we all have fun. So bring that truck next year and run with us. You won't meet a better group of racers. Thanks Ron Parker.

And, you can use the truck to haul ol' Ron back to the motel if he celebrates too much.

We have had some SL6 powered trucks in the SSRN Points Series before, Larry Chesney ran his D150 at a few races and did pretty well. I think he "runner-uped" a Clay City a few years back.
His truck was stock SL6, 20. something dial-in. I remember watching many a nice racecar try to run him down and come-up short!

As a side note, I wonder when someone will do a Craftman's series "look" truck, SL6 powered of course. I have not seen one of those done yet ( my guess is that nobody has the courage to stick a slant in a real late model Ram truck)

Doug, I know a guy who has a Craftsman style body on a drag chassis. I think it's getting a 409 stroker small block though.
I always liked the looks of the Pro Stock Dakotas. I would have liked to had my buddys, but I was about $35K short when he sold it.
(He unloaded it 3 days before the NHRA axed P/ST)

I got to get to some scales in the near future. I Know I may not be the first one to say shortened short box(say that 3 times fast after a couple of beers) because of a pic on the Norwalk Chrysler Classic 2001 Photo gallery. though mines not chopped, its got a six and I'ved moving everything I can to the rear (battery ,Fuel cell). and I hope to race some time soon. though its all new to me , this site has pointed me In the right direction. The slant sickness article was all good and I'm sure if I stay on the road I'll end up with EFI and boost. Suffice to say I'm having more fun than I did In my stock 69 GTX in 75&76 and the dern thing corners allot better. Vegas is on my calender maybe March. But I would like to know more about road courses. the slant is lighter than a v8, it won,t go faster in a straight line but add some twistys,, don't ask how, it shines! Bruce
