I was curious if i could snug a fit of a 225 into a 240Z including a hyper pak and turbo and whatnot, im just curious if this is possible.

Engine and turbo should fit fine. Hpak manifold might be a stretch in that engine bay.

I have always wanted to do one of those... just never found the "right" Z car to do it to. (not too rough & not too nice so I would not feel bad about cutting it up a bit)

I think a stroked 170 (low block SL6) would be the way to go.

wouldnt a stroked 170 kill the idea of using the hyper pak intake?

because i did my math and with the 225 id get a higher torque band across the border comparted to the 240Z's L24, which has 32 mm stroke less than the 225 and atleast 5mm less of a bore than the 225

basically i get 5mm extra bore and 32 mm extra stroke if i do that engine swap.

wouldnt a cobra hood fit the hyper pak?

I'm pretty sure the hood is not the issue. The manifold will probably be way into the inner fender/shock tower.

My dad has a '78 280 Z. Looks like it would be a tight fit with a hyper pak.

I don't know how well it would work, or how hard it'd be, but I gotta say..

I did some research and i gotta say there is no way in hell this can be a bad idea, putting a 225 engine, which is powerful enough to pull trucks as heavy as 4 thousand pounds.

The research says this, other than the huge increase in stroke and abit in bore, youd also get literally 1 extra litre of a stock engine in it, AND, the 240z is as light as a HONDA CIVIC, you know, the ones RICERS modify all the time. And i figured the old engine, yeah, 2.8L I6...capable of making the datsun 240Z to do 0-60 in 7 seconds, but when you swap it with a 225, the only way performance of the car will go is UP, maybe to high 5's if your lucky as heck. THATS AS FAST AS A BMW!

Unless you get ungodly lucky and get the rare aluminum /6 block, then youd take away 80 pounds from the total weight and you got yourself a stock 240Z with a stock 225, with the same weight as the HONDA CIVIC, and yet not even modified, and yet FASTER than the civic. All you need to deal with the high end torque is get a turbo and you got yourself a solid race car with struts on all 4 whellbases.

The 240z already has the low end torque that you need, all you need really is to thicken that torque curve to help catch a part of the high end of the curve.

OK I know the blue oval car companny is not to be discussed

BUT came across a 52 f3 truck very decent for either resto - it is complete or rod

If I rod It will be with a killer slant - the stock motor is still in it all 239 CID of ford flathead V8 -

But I must say it is sorry you are not over here Doc - One scrapyard has 13 240z hanging around some used as race cars at one stage!!

I love the 240Z idea. I agree a 209 stroked 170 would likely be my choice, but if a 225 would fit, then go for it.

Well what i wanted to do was see how much power can i get if i put a 225 in a 240Z, i mean its already a fast car, but the question is, how much does 225 and a L24 ((240z engine)) weigh with 4 speeds.

The "Twiggy" aluminum block SL6 engine I recently built is pretty darn light

Combine one of those with a aluminum case 833 4-speed and I think you could get an engine / trans package that is under 500 lbs total.

where can i get one of them aluminum blocks?

is it true you have to use copper/asbestos gaskets for the aluminum block?

oh and is it possible to manufacture other parts of the engine to be aluminum?
