I need one of these. The bolt pattern on the intake is smaller both ways than the smaller of the two bolt patterns on the carb. Where do I find one? I drew one up on Solidworks with measurements I took from the carb and intake, but am a little short on time, otherwise I'd whip it out on the mill.

The Offie 4 bbl manifold, requires an adapter plate. This normally comes with the manifold, but there are many used manifolds being sold without the plate. I don't know about the "transdapt" part, but the correct piece, can be obtained from Summit Racing, and I think offieparts.com or anyplace that sells the manifolds.

Can someone tell me why every manifold has one of these adapters when it is sold new. And you can only use it if you have the manifold. Then why are more than 50% of the manifolds being sold without them? Are people holding on to them and using them for paperweights? I don't get it.

What is the opinion on carb orientation in relation to primaries beings perpidicular (and offset to either the front or back of the engine) or parallel? If I hook the carb up where the carb linkage and the truck throttle lickage line up, the 2 primaries will be the two forawrd-most barrels. Theoretically, I guess this is not a good set up, as it would deliver more fuel to the first three cylinders. I really don't want to have to mess with making a 90 deg link in the linkage, but I will if it is critical to have the primaries equally spaced and centered on the manifold.

Eye balling it it will be about equal length run to all the cylinders turning the carb with the primaries to the fender.

You might be able to mod the original adapter. You can turn it and get 2 screws to line up.

I have 2 large chunks of some type of aircraft plastic to mod to make one. I also want to build a side ways Thermoquad adapter

The main question I had is: is it critical that the primaries are centered on the manifold? The way I've seen many adaptors shows the primaries being to the rear of the engine (side by side of course, with the secondaries directly on front of them, to the front of the car. Let me try to show a "picture" Imagine the column of "I"s the manifold, and the little "o"s the primaries and the big "O"s the secondaries.
The first picture represents what I am weary of doing-not having the primaries centered on the manifold (picture shows they are favoring the 4,5,6 cylinders). The second picture shows what I would think to be ideal, but would be a pain to make a 90 link in the throttle linkage since the pedal linkage and the carb linkage line up in the first picture.

1.

(rear)
I
I
I oo (primaries)
I OO (secondaries)
I

(front)

2.
(rear)

I oO (primary, then seconday)
I oO )primary, then seconday)

Let me know what you guys think. I know there are many of you with a 4 bbl and have had to make this decision before. For those that have tried it both ways, what are the differences? I'm listening...

Im running my Eddy like #2. It works GREAT but I have nothing to compare it to. The Holley I took off was turned like #1. The Holley had issues so its not fair to compare. The linkage was a little trying but its a race only so the kickdown linkage is not a problem. For a street car you would probally want a Lokar kickdown cable.

The short ram manifolds are not as critical as the runners are pretty short in relation to the engine... on the long ram intakes... having the primaries toward the fender help in making sure the mix is fine...
