okay, i was told that the timing belt and gears had "nylon" in them, please discuss about them?

(1) Slant sixes do not use timing belts. Slant sixes use a camshaft gear, a crankshaft gear, and a timing chain.

(2) Factory original timing gears had nylon coating the teeth f the gears. THis wears off and causes slack in the tiing set of the motor.

(3) Replacement timing sets do not use nylon teeth.

Is there anywhere that sells true roller timing chains for the slant six?

What brand is it?

How much are you asking?

Does the /6 have it's own specific timing set or does it sare a set with the small blocks, big blocks, or any other vehicles set-up?

What manufactures produce a double row roller timing set for the /6?

(2) known.

(3) known.

still i just want to know how long it takes to replace such a nylon ..system..thingy. i heard its $30 for the replacement timing set, dunno yet, i was just suggested to replace it. I never replaced a timing chain, but i have a good ideas as to how to do it.

It will take an afternoon to change, and more if you decide to do any 'optional' work... like 'degree in the cam' rather than 'line up the
dots'... and how you seal up the timing cover and how careful you are in sealling the front oil pan gasket.
