I scored an offy 4 bbl intake for my slant with a carb plate and the hunt begins. I may have a lead on a carb but if it does not pan out I may be on the hunt for a holley 390 FYI. I also have hooker split headers as well so the car will sound and breathe nice at some point. One thing I did not get was collectors. Is this something I need to have fabbed up or can I still get collectors somewhere? I do want to get these coated with some form of alumacoat or ceramic of some kind. There is some cleanup on these headers needed. Sandblasting scares me as maybe too much blast and 'presto' a hole in a tube or two. Whats best, plastic media, glass bead, or soda strip? Dont want to ruin the headers but want them cleaned up and temporarily sprayed with some light paint so I can handle them and test fit prior to any permanent coating in case of minor tweaking or tube adjusting to get the right fit. I also have to either thicken up the flange area as it is a tad thinner than the intake or can I have the intake milled to match the flange thickness on the header, (bad idea)??? Anyhow I have some other issue as well being I have no linkage, kickdown stuff or even the intake and header bolts to mount any of this stuff yet so if I am not asking too much if there is any help that can be had from anybody out in slantland please can you point me in the right direction?
