so if both the V8 and the slant six used the same gearbox, and clutchpack; is the flywheel a common p# as well?

what are you guys running for flywheels?

The tranny is the same (bolting it up wise...except for the 18 spline 'Hemi' A-833)...
The bellhousing is different, the flywheel is different (some V-8 flywheels can be modified), the only 'clutch' 'stock' for stock that crosses over is the 11" clutch for the Dodge Trucks that got the NP435 tranny (and a few select taxi/cop car B/C body mid-60's slant cars)... that one is the same in the aftermarket as the V-8 11" clutch...

'Stock' A-body options
are the 9.25" and 10" clutch use the high starter bellhuosing and the same smaller flywheel... the 11" is the low mount starter style bellhousing

Search options on here will lead you to some nice aftermarket options for clutches, etc...

good luck,

Not the same gearbox — the V8 box has a 2.66 first gear, and the \6 box has 3.09.

A few people have talked about the early 70's 4 speed behind 318's sometimes had a similar gear ratio like the slant boxes...there couldn't have many made, if any at all...

okay- all gear ratios aside; i got a sweet clutch for the gearbox i have from SPEC (thanks greg!), and i am now looking for a stout flywheel.

what kind of flywheels are you guys running? anything aftermarket? or mostly resurfaced oe units?

I use a re-surfaced flywheel from an '85 Dodge van. Works great behind the Super Six in my '77 Aspen wagon....but my 2.94 rear gears suck. :x
