i brought my slant from PA to run at norwalk a few week back for the No Box Bananza big money weekend. i saw a red alterd with a slanted 6 cyl motor with a mopar valve cover. sounded SICK and ran like 8.60s all motor.!!!! i went up to him and he said No sir this is a 300 six but it was mounted on like a Slant. and he said it had Custom Mopar cylinder head on it lol. was pretty crazy...

sadly today i say the last day i race a slant six. most likely. putting a 318 or 360 for next year to go 12s then in a year or to im going for ...
IHRA Crate Engine STOCK with the duster. go out and run the national events. 1 day id like to get another duster to put my slant back INTO. then have it for a daily driver and bring both cars to the events i run... if i hit a chrysler classic that has slant 6 ill run it again. the slant gave me a good year. lots of round wins. i won 5 races in the car this year and went to 6 Final round. none of the v8 guys and dragsters going 7 seconds in the 1/4 mile that i beat will say again that a slant 6 cant beat me! i just got back from the HALLOWEEN classic at norwalk i didnt see a single slant :( i was the only 1 rocking for us. i went 4 rounds on wednesday. friday super roller gamblers i went .003 red for round . then saturday and sunday i went 4 rounds till the slant threw a TOTALLY random number out there. wednesday in the 4th rd they *(1/8 mile weekend) i had a 11.44 dial up on the board. they put 14.44 i didndt catch it till i got about 500 feet out looked back at the guy LOCKED the brakes and slid through the finish at 20 some mph and still ran under by like 2 and 1/2 seconds. :( ...note to all you out there check your DIAL IN B4 you stage! lol

havent messaged in a while wanted to throw that out there. anyone got a Look on the points standing? fastest slant pass 17.72 @76mph all stock except super six and 2bbl carb...fastest mph ran 78...(slowest et on a solid pass with the 1bbl- 19.50. fastest pass on the 1bbl...18.70...distributor was not notched... got as much timing as we could with stock setup

It's hard to get the slant in that time range without making it a labor of love (money). My roomate has a 69' Camaro with a zz4 crate and it is difficult to keep up with him I'm not going to lie.

Good times, Nick. Sorry to hear you'll be going V8, but that is how most people go of course.

Happy trails at the tracks and maybe we'll see you next year at a Mopar event or something.

I think the cool thing about showing up with a Slant is that usually you are the only one there...

Lou
