What plug did I buy? GR4 stock #2635 I bought some parts and thought I would get some plugs. I told them no Chinese Autolites and these were about the same price as Champions.

All I know is I changed cap and rotor and now it won't start. I used a new cap and rotor for a points type distributor.

This is the 74 Fart Dart.

Raining 42* and dropping out so I will gap and antisieze the new plugs. Wait on the sleet to start in my heated shop while the Dart gets glazed with ice.

Most common cause of no-start after replacing cap and rotor is incorrect hookup and/or sequencing of the plug wires on the cap. #1 (frontmost) should get connected to the cap tower that's at about the 4:00 position as viewed from above, and the order is 1-5-3-6-2-4. What cap and rotor (brand and number) did you install? The plugs you bought are fine quality, but they're kind of on the hot side; they may limit the amount of spark advance you can run without ping...especially if you didn't remove the metal ring washers before installing them. Tune-up parts suggestions are in this thread.

Ratfarts! Need to cut the rings off! Already lubed  Plug wires are correct. Even cleaned the corroded terminals.

(Firecore needs to make slant wires! )

Actully bought the plugs with checking here first. I set them at .037 with a stock coil.

Dan, I lost your number!!

This is the beater for now.

If the car has not been run in say six months and you put the new parts on I would check the point gap if they were tight and burned a contact points may be your problem. If the car was running check the primary wires to the distribtuor and points you could have damaged them . Thanks Ron Parker :D

No point gap to check on a '74 model (with electronic ignition).

I don't think I got the rotor all the way down. I saw marks on several terminals where the rotor might have hit.

The rotor turns, is it possible I cracked a few teeth off the gear? I tries to fire every once in a while.

I have what I believe is a 74 motor in the shop with that can be a distributor donor.

I need to get a starter button.

The wires to the coil were loose. Former owner has hacked some crap in there. Too rainy and cold to look except tighten the nuts.

This thing kept dieing leaving the gas station. Everytime I put it in gear it stalled. After that it ran 4 miles home perfectly.

Is it possible to break the gear by not putting the rotor on right?

I couldn't work on this thing tonight too cold and rainy.

I am going to buy a starter button tomorrow to try on Wednesday.
