I am building a slant 6 that will see very little street use. This became a project just out of curiosity. I grew up with my dad running big block mopars and I have played around a lot with the small block. It will be a .30 over 225. The cam is a custom ground 270 duration .445 lift at 110 lobe centers. It was ground with the intention of use a m90 supercharger.
But I am afraid that it will want to peak beyond 6000 rpm. I will use a 125 shot of nitrous. the block will be decked a .100 putting the piston .060 down. The head has had a lot of port work from a friend that I have seen alot of success from on other projects. The chambers have been closed to 38cc's. I am building my own intake. I have some 3d cad files that I will post. I am looking for any input from those that have raced the slant 6. I have learned from racing junior dragsters that all that I have learned over all the years does not necessarily translate to all other engines, and the slant 6 is considerably different. Ok I dont understand how to post an image.

Can't really help with the intake, but to my little pea brain the mixture of a piston .060" down, a 38cc chamber, 125 shot of hose, and an M90 blower equal a weapon of mass destruction to your wallet.

thanks for replying. I decided not to use the m90. The nitrous was my alternative choice.

The runners seem a bit short, and my gut reaction is 1&6 won't get the same mixture as 2,3,4,5..........

Short runner lengths equate to very little end low torque. The slants long rods lend them selves to generating/building good low end torque so why not try to enhance it? for the intake and the exhaust?

That intake looks to me like it would work well with a blower. :D

Well, to start with that cam would've not been that good for a supercharger. The lobe seperation would cause a lot of blow through, you would want something wider. Next, the the plenum intake doesn't hurt lower end torque, but is merely amplified at the correct rpms via length. So, actually if you wanted a 170 that would rev to the sky a shorter runner would assist that. The reason they choose that particular length was to help the engine at 4500rpm so they didn't have to shift down with the gears they were running. Otherwise they would shift coming out of the corners wasting time.
The log idea that is kinda based on what your think and very similar to what I was looking at building over the winter break is based on the idea that you have 3.7L of air in resivoir and the chambers can suck air as needed. So on a dry manifold it would work very well, wet would probably just work better. I would definltey suggest going either NOS or supercharger as you really need to bulid the engine accordingly to get the results you want. The NOS should run well with that cam and "higher" compression, otherwise your going to realy need to replan your engine build. Wes

Check this out:

about 2/3 down, "Ford's Tuned Intake"

Look at the diagram about 5/6 down.
