Hi,

Is is normal for a cold engine to sound kind of cranky, clunky, noisy when first starting until oil pressure comes up? 225 /6 always sounds like a rattle trap until it's been running for a few seconds.

150,000 miles on engine... would a heavier viscosity oil be a good thing for this, or a synthetic, or some other additive? Right now is using 10/30.

Thanks,

Tom

Sounds like a worn engine, I would use a thicker oil, 20-50 or 30 wt and even a can of STP or other thick "motor honey" to help fill the gap in the worn bearings.
I never use 10-30 in a California driven SL6

Some 20 50 and a bottle of STP oil treatment should help.
