Is it possible to replace a push button operated 904 with a 727 from a 66 Dart? If possible what, if any modifications ar necessary? I wish to retain the pushbutton feature. :(

I don't believe '66 Darts with Slants ever got 727s, but if they did they had the later style linkage, and not the pushbutton style. The best course of action is to get your 904 rebuilt. I know of 1 or 2 PB trannys in LA if you need extra parts.

Thanks for input, thought linkage not to mention ball/trunion to u-joint issues would preclude the modication, what a shame as 727 only has about 10k on it as opposed to the 904 which has never had the pan off! 727 was installed as replacement for 904 several years prior to the 66 270 being totaled in a head-on. all mechanical from firewall back survived intact-guess i'll scrap it out and salvage what i can for the 63 GT.
