Hi all, before I ask a question I would like to extend a very nondenominational seasons greetings. I hope everyone has a happy and a merry and maybe a few chorses of God Rest You Merry Gentlemen thrown in just for luck.
Now, down to business, Is there a difference in 13" wheels between 62 and 65?? I picked up a set of 65 ralley caps for my 62, I actually found some nuts that work but can't seem to get the caps to fit flush on the wheels. I don't want to beat on them too much in case they don't work and they need a new owner. Am I doing something wrong or is there a small difference in the wheels?
Thanks.
Joe

What caps are you talking about?
Do you mean that the wheel covers don't fit correctly?
Photos would help.
Also, look for and post part numbers from the wheels. It might help.

Yup, there's a difference between ‘60-‘63 13″ wheels and the ‘64-up 13″ wheels. The early wheels have wider slots and the later wheels have narrower slots between the inner wheel "plate" and the outer wheel "barrel" (or maybe I have that backward and it's early-narrow, late-wide? Mmmm...no, I think it's early-wide, late-narrow). There are probably other related contour differences, too; I think that's what you're running into trying to get the ‘65 covers to fit the ‘62 wheels. If you want to run the ‘65 covers, it shouldn't be hard to find a set of '64→ 13″ wheels.

Thanks Dan. I'm afraid it's going to be a lot easier to go back to my original wheel covers. Almost every time I try and do something like this, I don't do the research (duh!) that I should do and if I chase it the project gets stupid in price. Another learning curve.
Thanks again.
Joe
