Thank you for the info,my alum block motor with a fram would take a couple seconds after fire up for oil lite to go out if I didnt start it for a couple days,switched to napa 1515,and it goes off alot quicker,will try the 1806 next time,and all future changes,from what I have read,the 1806 is the best thats available for any slant,thanks again,Mark

As an FYI, I have had good experience buying filters online from www.fleetfilter.com. You need to buy enough filters to make the shipping worthwhile but that's never been a problem for me since I have a big fleet of cars that use the same filter.

A little off topic here, but I found that the tall filter (the tall 30001 Purolator filter) was so close to the block on my '83 engine, I couldn't put my filter wrench on it to get it off. Is this the reason Chrysler used a short filter on hydraulic motors? Thats what is called for, and what I'm going to go with from now on, just for ease of removal and instalation. I used what ever the CarQuest number is, they are made by Wix also (oil is made by Valvoline, just like Napa). I change oil every 3K anyway.

Does Fram make a filter with the anti drainback valve and the built in standpipe? I've noticed an anti-Fram sentiment on the forum, educate me.

i hate filter wrenches, i use a bigass pair of channel-locks. the jaw capacity is 6". ive used these pliers on every filter imaginable on all sorts of construction equipment, cars and trucks, the only ones i have trouble using them on is the 4.3GM V6 filter tucked into the oilpan, and most imports where the filter is buried under hoses or something. when the channellocks dont cut it, i use a seatbelt filter wrench, they are easier to manipulate and you can use a ratchet extension in tight clearance applications.

i bought a case of PL30001 filters for $50 from an in-town wholesaler, and i'm about half through it now. i like the extra capacity.
