I am not sure how many of you read some of the racing boards but there has been some discussion on there about the worst red-light rule.

As it stands now if the slower cars redlight they lose. Even if they have a .499 red and the faster car has a .478 red. The software could be modified so that both green lights are displayed until both cars have left the line and then only the worse redlight would be shown and the other car declared a winner.

The argument is that the current breakout rule follows the "worst" senario...meaning no matter who gets there first the biggest breakout loses. Since both redlights and breakouts carry the same weight should they not follow the same rule? Pro categories like TF, FC and PS all follow the worst redlight rule because they both get the green at the same time.

What do you slant 6 racers think about this? Has this been a topic of conversation at your local strips?

Tom

This discussion has been going on ever since they started with reaction timers. The rule says "First or Worst", but that's not how it works. For a really good discussion, go to any drag board and ask about the Steve Taylor "Pink Light" rule.

Oh yeah, seeing as how I drive a slow car I think it ought to be "worst".

If you've ever noticed, on a Pro Tree the second guy to redlight automatically gets the green light anyway.
