Just noticed this:



Slight rip where the silver thread was.

Foam is good underneath.


Because the seat is nylon fabric/vinyl




and everywhere else the seats are in good shape, I'd just want to fix the rip............ (don't want to spend the bucks to re-upholster everything)


My thoughts on a repair are to remove the lower seat covering, then put a patch underneath the nylon fabric to take the strain.

Have the patch be the size of the existing squarish nylon fabric and attach to the vinyl at the existing seams (front,sides,rear), and with some stitching here and there (or glued ) attaching the old top fabric to the new stronger underlying fabric.

Should be almost invisible, and the new fabric would take any strain so that the old fabric doesn't come apart anymore at the seams?

Good idea?
Bad idea?

Well if you were in No Cal, I'd say come on over and I'll sew it up for ya. That can be repaired without removal of anything, and should be invisible to the naked eye!

Yes, that is what I would use. It's easier to do than to explain, trust me, but it can be done. You basically sew up the seam and close it, cause that's what came undone.

The rip wasn't a seam, but the sort of seperation you get when fabric gets old.

So I don't trust the fabric to take strain any more.

Anyway, the seat cover is off, so I'm going with the original plan...........
