I am fixing to email some head pics to a few forum members and would be glad to copy you too. I need a standard email address because I don't know how to put pics on here, just PM me. Mine were relieved more than that diagram.

In another thread I spec'd the Dremel I use with long stem burrs. It is on ebay ever now and then, and the motor is the size of a beer can. My machine shop used one and that is how I got turned onto it. Runs hours and hours for decades. About $100 with cable and collets.

Dizzy, I ported a head to the size of the Aussie gasket. Not necessary on exhaust and my hurt performance. I did it for the heck of it, and the trumpeting needed is substantial. That is the head that I made "onem more pass" and cut the water jacket in number 6 exhaust. That head went to the crusher after about 30 hours of porting. Stick to intakes. I was able to talk my machine shop into letting me do the work at their place on Saturdays when it was slow, and of course they would check in every now and then. Maybe you can find a place that will let you, just ask. I did bring my own Dremel and burrs. Your hardest problem as a beginner will be avoiding making "crop rows" of oscillating rows in your surface. It takes doing it to see, and to see how not to do it. It has to do with the rotary motion of the burr itself and the nature of cast iron.

That's why when you copy stuff like that you have a ruler in the copy so the size can be adjusted if necessary......

I wonder if the "peanut" head and the "drool plug" heads are the same in the ports?

Thanks Rock. I bought the standard abras. porting kit and the buffing wheels look like they will eliminate a lot of the "rows". I remember the pics of that head and thats what made me think of it. I might just go to a regular gasket so the manifolds will match also.

Doug and I did this a few months ago, and I had planned to take some pictures and write it up, but we bought a house in the interim and its eaten much of my time. I will see if I can touch base with Doug and get this little piece put together. I have decided to pursue a little more aggressive porting so I will hopefully have some details sooner than later =)
