hey guys, new member here. i own a 1979 volare sedan with a super six. been here before just visiting and i am a member of the mass mopar site. had a question about some stuff on my intake.

my question is, what is that unit on my intake? the one closest to the engine? this pic doesn't show the actual sensor/whatever it is, it does show the vacuum line set up.

my vacuum lines are capped, does anyone have a diagram of where the lines were supposed to go? anyone know if i can take the sensor thing out??

This what you're showing us is a factory aluminum intake manifold with two threaded holes on the #6 runner. Closest to the engine is a blockoff plug. Next to it is a multi-port vacuum tree to provide manifold vacuum for various vacuum-operated things (heat/AC mode door actuators, EGR system, etc.)

Can't advise where vacuum lines need to go until we know how much (or how little) of your car's emission control system is being kept intact. The thermostatic air cleaner's already gone, as it seems…what else?

Bingo, Dave gets a prize. Air charge temp sensor, part of later emissions systems and lean-burn systems.

Uhhh...Reed, how do you know "Bingo, that's it"? There is no air charge temp sensor, or sensor of any other kind, in or on the manifold pictured at the top of this thread. There is a blankoff plug, and there is a vacuum tree.

That's how I got to Bingo. As his post said, his intake has a sensor that is not in the picture. I know what a vacuum tree, a air charge temp sensor, and a plug look like. Give me a little credit here....
