My good J&M head is on it's way back to Blaine for a freshen up. In it's place for the first two points races of the year is a box stock 170 head. I left everything else exactly the way it was with the good head except for a steel shim head gasket. So how much will it slow me down?

Tom, the good head was mildly ported, had SB Ford valves with a trick valve job, and 340 springs.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that the good head is worth about .25 and a couple MPH. Conditions today were what you would call "mineshaft", 65* and 20% humidity. The car ran a best of 15:26@86. I'm pretty sure it would have been low .0's with the other head, probably 14:80's with the other intake back on too.

Possum, no teeth have fallen out yet. Can I drink grits through a straw, just in case? :D

I talked to Mike tonight. My head was in pretty rough shape from the roller rocker experiment. The guides are trash, and the exhaust valves are all beat to hell. Pretty much what I expected to hear.

Looks like we'll try some bigger valves now to go with the camshaft I'm gonna try. I'm hoping to be pretty close to the 13's before I turn on the bottle.

Possum, that's OK, I'm not really a grits kind of guy anyway.

Hey Bagel we are pulling the intake and shiping it to Gary Thursday for some lets say some work. Friday week we are going up to Garys and doing the swap that gives me three weeks before Columbus. What do you think the car will run your good at that kind of stuff. The fun is about to begain. Remember Bagel i have spent a lot of money to beat your butt so don't you give up on me. :D :D
