It finally got warm enough here to work on the car again. I put a new set of seat belts in the white Valiant, then I was going to lubricate the chassis. My grease gun quit pumping so I put in a new cartridge. Now I can't get it to pump again. This has happened at least twice before and I never could get the guns to work again so I bought a new one. That worked for a while but now the same thing has happened again.

Has anyone else had a similar problem? Is there something I am missing here? These things don't come with any instructions. One was a nicer one I got at Sears many years ago and the current one is one of those cheap red ones you get at the auto parts stores. Any ideas would be appreciated.

You have to put the end on loosely so that when you release the spring it will push the air out. My old Lincoln grease gun even has an air hole in the threaded area of the working end to let air out before the tube is screwed in completely.

Thanks Joshie, that makes more sense than anything I have ever tried. I will try it tomorrow. I remember one of my guns having a similar hole.
