I've written an article for the Rods & Relics car club you might be interested in reading:
Engine Oil

While doing researching the article, I was surprised at how similar the maintenance recommendations for a 1938 Dodge D-8 (218 I-6) was to a 1964/1965 Valiant:
Chrysler Oil Recommendations
