well this is probably a really dumb question but its early in the morning and it seems like a super hard problem at the moment

my 73 scamps rear drums are loose
ive taken the wheels off and knocked them off and everything looked ok visually but didnt really do a real exam of the shoes
but now the drums are loose and will not stay on th ebacking plate

is there some super simple step im missing?

like i said its early and my brains not completely awake but i need to get this thing on the road today so im starting early

The wheel holds the drum to the axle.

make sure you have them adjusted out so that there is a slight drag on the drums when you turn them. You dont want it to be too loose.
