Hey All,

I need two mufflers for the dual exhaust on my 67 dart. Slant Six, warmed over, headers, 2" all the way out. Gonna be a street strip car, mostly street. Would like to be in the 50-60 dollar range each. Lookin' for a little throaty rumble but don't want something that isn't fun to drive inside either. Size: 10X13 with offset on one end.

Been looking at pricing on summit. Looks like Dynoxax, Magnaflow and flowmaster all have models in this price range.

So what would you recommend for $60 ea. or under and why?

Thanks!

Chris

Dynomax super turbo or thrush turbo will be your best bet. Should be well under $50/muffler. Do NOT get flowmaster - boomy. Magnaflows are good but louder than Super turbo or Thrush turbo.

I have been running the Thrush Welded muffler for $29.00 for the past couple of years. Should be fun with two however, they are more restrictive than the MagnaFlows.

Is your engine built? or stock?
The Hemi-Turbo is quieter but raspier than the Thrush Welded.
When my buddy is going down the 1/4 mile it sounds kind of raspy.

Chris,

Sounds like you got to meet Seymour and Neal at that show. Neal has license to "stretch its legs" and I hope he does - build to be driven. That car has a 7 yr old single 2.5" Thrush turbo on it.

Dual exhaust is for V engines, IMHO. Self respecting Slanters should have single. I will put 3" single on the Dart when the turbo goes on in fall/winter.

Lou

I just put a single Thrush Welded Muffler from Summit on my 80 Volare with 6-1 headers, 2.25 all the way back. It sounds nice not too loud, actually perfect for my 16 year old. Inside the car you cant hear it over the ordinary slant six sounds. From the back of the car it is SWEEEEEET. Nice low rumble, V8 ish.

If I was to do it again I would go even cheaper, on my wifes 76 Vette I put the cheap $17.99 Summit "turbo" muffflers on that one. They are the best sounding of anything I have used yet. The car (a 327) has a nice deep rumble at idle and you can really hear it when you get on it.

Neither one seems to give any resonating on the highway.

good luck,
Scott

On my '78 Volare, I put on a glasspack; Flotech's "Purple Hornie". I like it, not too loud unless I step on it.
I also have a 1980 F-body Duster; don't call it a Volare either! :P
