Hi,

I am building up my 225 Slant Six in my '73 Duster. I am installing a Clifford Hyperpak intake with the Edelbrock Carb, but what kind of exhaust should I run? This is not a daily driver -- simply a cruise night car. I want it to sound a bit more aggressive. Has anyone taken off the muffler and run a straight pipe? Does it sound nice? Can you get dual exhausts for a Slant Six? Where are they available? I really didn't see much exhaust pieces on the clifford site?

We are getting a sizeable Slant Six contingent in central Florida. Really can't offer advice on your exhaust. I have dual outlet headers, dual 2 1/4 inch pipes, dual glasspacks, and dual left side outlets. It is quite loud, more so then I wanted

There are tube steel headers that work with the Hyper-Pak and I can also set-up some cast iron "Dutra Duals" that will work with the no carb heat Hyper-Pak.

Yo Brian, depends on the $... you could use a stock cast manifold and a flowmaster with 2 1/2 pipe in/out. Go to Speedworld drags this Wed. and you'll see a '66 Blue Dart owned by Chad, it sounds real good, he has the MP 6to1 header and a flowmaster, it's mean sounding.

as charlie said, the glasspacks are usually too loud for my tastes... be prepared to spend some time fitting a tube header, denting, tweaking and such (a full afternoon for it)

Interesting, how did Chad get that header to fit? It is for the '67 - '76 chassis.

One special tool was needed and I'm sure you know it is a hammer. The motor has to be lifted to get the header in for marking where to pound. The steering box is the biggest dent, large ones on two tubes. The dents for the torsion bars aren't too bad. He made a 15.70@89mph pass with it, spinning tires with the stock convertor and 7 1/4 open rear rear.
