Great, I'm glad it worked for you.

Thanks for the heads up on the donut gasket Ceej. If it leaks I'll replace it however if it does not leak then that's one more thing I won't have to fix.

Thanks!

Glad to hear you were finally successfull. I know how frustrating it can be working on a car in the heat. It's still 90 here at 7:10pm, but at least it's cooled off enough to do some light outdoor activities.

Scott.

Thanks Scott. Yeah, it's been hot these last couple of days and I didn't need that since I was hot enough considering the circumstances I was under lol.

I got the distributor out and am now cleaning it up getting it ready to go back in once my op gaskets arrive in the morning and the op is reinstalled. Everything is going smoothly now.

How does the oil pump look inside? Is it the stock aluminum pump?

Yes, stock alum pump. It looked great inside and checked out within tolerances. The pressure rv came out easily once I had the pump in my hand although it did have black deposits that also cleaned up with little effort. I slipped a 3/16 nut behind the spring for a little more pressure.
It's cleaned up and ready to go back in just waiting on gaskets.

Just got back from a test drive and the oil pressure light never did flicker or come on 'cept when I went to start it. The op went back on with no problems and the distributor is adjustable now thanks to a total disassembly, clean, oil and proper point gap set at .020.
Just thought I would close this thread with the all ok report.
Many thanks to all that helped.
