Nope, I didn't book anything since we didn't get the 10 rooms the quote was based on. I was hoping to get a few more commitments as the race got closer so I wouldn't have to try and renegotiate.

Any more takers on the hotel rooms previously discussed in this thread?

Personally, I'm trying to come to terms with the fact that I'm probably not going to make it. Three months ago, I kinda assumed that my wife would be back to work by now. She still hasn't found a job, and we've started digging into savings. Work on my Swinger has slowed to a crawl, so it doesn't look like it'll be ready by August, and trust me, I'm not entertaining enough to attend without bringing a dish to the pot luck...

My wife still has interviews, so it's possible that she could land a high-paying gig that would change everything, but I'm trying to be realistic and prepare for the worst.

It absolutely KILLS me that I'm going to miss this opportunity to meet so many of my slanted heroes, but I just have to pray that the event is a complete success and becomes an annual event. Maybe I can make it NEXT year...

That said, I'm still willing to deal with the hotel regarding the group rates if we can get any more takers, or check and see if they'll stick to their offer with fewer rooms. Anyone else interested?

There was also talk about an event T-shirt early on, and I'd still be willing to try and design something if you guys need it. Just lemme know.

It breaks my heart to bail on you guys. I know we need a good turnout, and every head counts.
